Match report In an exhilirating contest Chingford defeated high flying Bexley in the Second Round of the Evening Standard Trophy on sunday. Batting first the visitors were indebted to a fine innings of 69 from Shaun McMurray with useful contributions from Jamie Hill(29) Matt O Sullivan(21) and Sam Kirnon(29) to achieve an all out total of 172 after 49 overs. This total always looked difficult defend but Kerry Marriott bowled exceptionally to remove the top three batsmen in a ten over spell which cost just 22 runs. The spinners then took hold on a wearing pitch to reduce the home side to 93 for 6. A partnership of 50 between Khan and Park threatened to upset Chingfords good work but Bass returned to the fray to capture both wickets which was then followed by a run out and the rare spectacle of Jamie Hill picking up the last wicket with his first ball to give Chingford victors by 12 runs with 11 balls left.
