Match report The same 6 represented Chingford as had done in the season opener. Batting first this time, Chingford got off to a good start with Greg Hales and Mac Meade scoring freely with help from W. Ides. However, against the run of play, Greg was bowled for 12 in the third over. Shaun McMurray in at No 3 failed to avoid the strike to the umpire who had given him out in the first match, and succumbed to him for the second time lbw. Mac had got to his 25 off 15 balls and retired. At the half way stage, Chingford were 57-2, and losing momentum. Then, after a cautious start, Ben MacGregor was run out going for a sharp run. Kerry Marriott had the freedom to go for the back wall and managed one 6, but was also run out for 10. Mac came in again to join Nick Shawyer, with plenty of time to bat. On his return to the crease, Mac struggled and with overs left to bat, both Nick and Mac were stumped off balls going down the leg side. With the help of 16 extras, Chingford reached a poor total of 79 all out.
Needing to take 6 wickets to ensure winning, Kerry and Mac opened the bowling. Kerry was at his accurate best, however, the early breakthrough did not come, with two catches put down. Kerry struck in his last over, bowling one opener, and finished with 1 for 11. Shaun came on next and helped maintain the pressure. With pressure building on the batsmen, the game turned to Chingford. Despite two run out chances being missed, a third was taken. Nick Shawyer came on to bowl and struck with the help of keeper Greg Hales. Greg picked up a catch and a stumping, leaving the last man two overs to get 14. A couple of balls later, the last man was run out, looking for a run that was not there. South Woodford were bowled out for 66. Chingford had conceded just four extras, 12 less than their opponents. The margin of victory was 13 runs.
