Chingford Cricket Club - JACK WATSON

The Jack Watson Trophy

For the 1982 season Malcolm Watson donated a trophy to the Club in memory of his father, Jack, a hardworking member and patient spectator for many years. The trophy is awarded at the Club Supper to the batter who has scored the most runs for Chingford* during the previous summer season.

For a full list of winners of the trophy and the number of runs they scored, visit the Honours Page and the Honours Archive Page.

*Traditionally, all Chingford matches count except those during Cricket Week. Thus, to win the trophy, a player probably has to play a lot of matches and bat in many innings.

The first winner of the trophy was Richard Alston who scored over 1300 runs, just ahead of Frank Beccles who scored 1250 in his first season.

The current holder of the Jack Watson Trophy is Niraj Odedra who won the trophy at the end of his first season with the club in 2004 and held it in 2005.
